    Hi everyone,

    I'm wondering if there is a way (mental ray) to make a a double sided shaders. the stuff I found on the internet is usually for double sided textures. that is, only for color texture (using mib_twosided for example, or the using the condition/sampler info method). However I want to put two different materials (for example two different mia material, one metal, and one matte etc) onto a geometry. currently the way I'm doing it now is creating two passes but It would be useful to know if there is a way to create double sided shaders. Thanks in advance.

    imagine you have a big group with hundreds of subgroups and of course objects.
    Is there any fast way just to select the objects?

    Hi guys,

    is there any neat trick to remove objects from RenderLayers?
    Sometimes i have the problem that i can not remove objects or groups
    from my renderlayer.
    But when i rightclick above the renderlayer and select "select objects in Layer"
    i can see inside the outliner that maya is somehow selecting my objects / groups differently than i do
    it manually. Maybe there is a script that can conmvert my whole group selection into
    only objects / or only shapenode or whatever will work in order to remove it.

    Really looking forward for your help guys!

    I am using Maya 2011, and in the bookmarks folder Maya will create several autosave folders over the course of the day. Autosave is turned OFF in my preferences as well. How can I stop Maya from creating these folders in my bookmarks?

    Hello,

    I am using maya 2011 but I need to render at another company who only uses maya 2010.

    I open the file in 2010 with "ignore version" checked, and everything seems fine except the skinning/envelope. The vertices are flying out everywhere. When I turn off the envelop the mesh goes back to normal.

    What can I do to get my envelope/skinning to work properly in 2010?

    Hi folks. Long time since posting but has anyone else that uses a Wacom tablet, main the mouse, having any weird problems using it in Maya? Like not being able to click on the object shelf, or typing to zoom, no I mean pan up and down in the view screens? If so, do you have any advice about to solve this?

    Hey guys,

    So I just got a new computer. I've installed Maya 2012 and vray on it and I'm getting some weird things happening.

    For one my vray render is extremely slow. I don't know what is up because I built a pretty nice computer and it was rendering fine yesterday. I'm rendering class with 2 lights at like 640 x 360 and it is taking hours.

    I have an nvideo GTX 580 3 gb, i7 3.4, 16 gb ram. In the vray render settings I set it to 16000 mb for ram.

    And the second thing is the odd one. I'm getting this "dead pixel" look in video and photos in other programs while maya is open.

    I don't really know how else to describe it so I'm just going to post screenshots.

    Honestly I don't expect someone to be like "oh it's _____". I don't know if these two problems are connected at all, I just thought I would post them together. I'm also assuming that you guys are going to need to know some stuff to diagnose this so just ask away. I was going to upload my maya doc but I don't know if it will work with out all the other files.
